EDUCATION

🎓 Education

📘 The Challenge

Madhesh Province faces significant educational disparities. With a literacy rate of just 63.5%—well below the national average—and female literacy at only 54.7%, the gender gap remains stark.

Although primary school enrollment is relatively high, it declines sharply at the secondary level, with only 56% of children continuing their education. Around one in five children aged 4–17 are out of school.

Contributing factors include poverty, child labor, early marriage, gender discrimination, and weak public-school infrastructure. Overcrowded classrooms, a shortage of trained teachers, and limited inclusive learning environments further hinder educational outcomes—especially for girls, Dalits, and children with disabilities.

🎯 Our Approach

BWSN adopts a holistic and inclusive approach to improving access to quality education for all children, with a special focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups.

We provide scholarships, uniforms, school bags, and learning materials to reduce financial barriers. In remote and underserved areas, we conduct enrollment drives and work closely with families to prevent dropouts.

To enhance learning outcomes, we train teachers in child-centered and inclusive pedagogy, support digital literacy, and promote safe, engaging learning environments through school clubs and extracurricular activities.

🤝 Community Engagement & Accountability

Our work emphasizes strong community participation. We collaborate with parents, School Management Committees (SMCs), and local leaders to strengthen school governance and ensure accountability.

Through awareness campaigns and dialogue, we promote safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments where every child can thrive.

🌟 Your Impact

Your support helps keep children in school, empowers young people with knowledge and life skills, and creates pathways for brighter futures.

Together, we can transform schools into safe, inclusive spaces where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
